Many different screening, evaluation, and assessment practices and models are available for identifying children with disabilities or delays or children at risk for poor outcomes. These early identification methods and procedures have been organized into different categories for purposes of identifying the characteristics of the most effective practices. TRACE investigators are conducting research syntheses of both traditional and nontraditional early identification practices with an emphasis on those assessment and evaluation practices that are both effective and efficient in terms of early identification.
